This study  looked at work –life balance as a tool for managing human and material resources –A case study of federal polytechnic Nasarawa. The main objective of the study was to find out how work –life balance could be a tool for managing human and material resources of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in order to enhance performance of the institution and its employees and to also recommend best practices to the institution. Questionnaires were designed to collect data for the study. A simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 60 from a population of 106. Binomial statistical technique was used to analyze the data. Findings of this work revealed that Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa needs to do more in the following areas: work schedule flexibility ,acquiring good and robust technology, granting of study leave to employees who meet the set criteria, staff motivation by way of recognition, adoption of competency based recruitment, strong policy on early closure, compulsory leave, quarterly medical checks and counseling on staying fit ,by incorporating work life balance policies and strategies in its day –to-day activities .
