A study was carried out on the quality control assessment of ten Leading lager beers in Nigeria.
Parameters like Original gravity (OG), alcohol content, pH , bitterness unit, turbidity, foams stability, air
concentration, and Colour of beers were determines and compared with the standards approved by National
Agency for Food drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The Results obtained indicated that they were in
line with ranges adopted by NAFDAC as indicated below: OG, 1045-1050(0), Alc content (V/W) 3.9-5.0, CO2
5.0-6.0 g/l, air concentration 1-1.5 (mg/l) Ph; 3.7-4.5. Turbidity 1.0, Colour 6.0 (EBC). Bitterness Unit, 18-23
BTU and Foam stability 180-200 (Secs). This shows that Nigeria Lager Beer are of international standard since
NAFDAC is part of the Global Agency for the control of Foods, Beverages, and drugs.
